Cip Kids Can Mufti Day.

Today in CIP we have been planning a mufti day to fundraiser for kids can.


What have we planned this morning? 
We have planned what kind of mufti day we are going to do and we came
up with Radical rainbow day and we also made a poster.


What was your # Crazy Kids Can idea,how did you come up with it? 
My group came up with dark day were you wear dark clothes. 


Share two facts about kids can, what do they do?  
The apply kids with school shoes and clothes.


What role would you like to have in the mufti day?  I'm not sure yet.


What are you looking forward to with this project? 
Not wearing my school uniform.


What might be a challenge with this project?
Finding rainbow coloured clothes because I usually only wear dark clothes.

What I know about Digital Tech.

Today in Digital Tech we have to list what I know about Digital Tech,what I don't know about Digital Tech and what I think digital tech is going to be about.

What I know about Digital Tech.


I know how to use a Chromebook.

I know how to use a cellphone.

I know how to use I Movie. 

I know how to  make a blog post.


What I don't know about digital tech.

I don't know how to program a robot.

I don't know how to make a app.

I don't know how to make a game.

What I think digital tech is going to be about.

I  think in Digital Tech we will learn how to use different devices.










Tuesday 26th reflection-play back

What game did I find challenging and why?
I found bench ball challenging because it was hard to work as a team with people that I haven't really worked with before.

One of the goals was to listen .... What skills do you need to have to be a good listener?
You're paying attention to the person talking and you're not talking when the person is talking.


What communication skills do I need when playing bench ball?
You need to be patient with the people that don't really know how to play.  You also need to work as a team with your teammates.

What skills do I need to work on for my next lesson?
I need to try communicate with my team and try include everyone.

What is a personal goal that I need to work on?
My goal is to give everyone a go and to share the ball with everyone.

1. Close up.  A close up shot is when you take a photo of someone close up.






2. The over shoulder shot is when you take a photo over someones shoulder.

National young leaders day.

On Thursday 30th may 10 year sevens and eights went to  the national young leaders day to be inspired. We got to listen to leaders speak suck as Ronnie Taulafo, Kings and Sala Tiatia.  The leaders talked about their past they also talked about hard times and how they got through those hard times.  My favourite speaker was probably Kings because he talked about how he filmed/edited a music video on his phone called don't worry about it.  He also sang the song don't worry about it.  Here are some photos of what we did when we were at National Young Leaders Day.

Hurumanu The white powder experiment.

Today you will be a Forensic Chemist. 

A bag of white powder has been confiscated by the airport customs.  You need to find out what white powder it is?

Aim: To learn about the makeup of different white powders.

There are  a number of different white powders in our everyday life. Some of these are harmful and others are not. Test the four white powders listed to see which one has been found at the airport.

You will be given a small amount of 4 white powders on your cardboard. On the black cardboard using a magnifying glass look at the powders.
Look at them under your magnifying glass and record what you see. 

These are the four powders we will be using. Upload a photo of each powder. 

1.  Cornflour
2.  Baking Soda
3.  Salt
4.  Sugar 

Before you add the iodine, vinegar or water you will need to divide each powder into 3.

Materials

1.  card board
2.  Iodine
3. vinegar 
4.  pipette
5.  water
6.  baking soda
7.  salt 
8.  sugar
9.cornflour.


Steps

1. Fold the card board into four.
2. Then put a tea spoon of baking soda,salt,sugar and cornflour onto each square of  your cardboard.
3. Then divide the powders into three.
4. Then put three drops of ,Iodine,vinegar and water into each powder. 
5. Then watch what happens.

Iodine

Vinegar

Write a conclusion about your findings. ( 4 plus sentences)
The sugar,salt,baking soda and the cornflour was white the texture of the sugar and salt was large but the baking soda was medium and the cornflour texture was small.  None of the powders had a smell.  The iodine melted into the sugar and salt and gave it a golden colour.  The iodine rolled off the baking soda.  Then the iodine melted into the cornflour.  The water melted into the sugar and the salt. But the water rolled off the baking soda.  Then the water melted into the cornflour then the water went dry.  The vinegar melted-into the salt.  Then the vinegar made the baking soda fizz.  The vinegar just stayed on the top of the cornflour.

Hurumanu Science aerodynamics

FLIGHT

Aim: To learn about flight and aerodynamics. 

  • In your groups of 3 you will make a paper plane and measure its distance and behaviour.
  • In groups of 3 you will make a water rocket and record its distance and behaviour.

Definition: Aerodynamics is a object that is able to move throw air.


4 forces of flight:

  1.  Gravity
  2.  Thrust
  3.  Lift 
  4.  Drag

Paper Plane:

Material:

1. paper 
2. paper clip

Steps:
1.Fold the paper in half vertically. 
2.Unfold the paper then fold the top edges into the centre line 
3.Fold the paper in half vertically then fold the left and right sides to make wings.

Conclusion:Today in science we did an experiment about paper planes.  We had to create a paper plane then throw it.  We also had to measure how far the plane went and the behaviour of the way the plane flew and as you can see on the findings table we tried 3 different strategies .  The first strategy was just trying to make the plane fly normally.  The second strategy was trying to make the plane fly with flaps and the last strategy was trying to make the plane fly with a paper clip. 
But over all I really enjoyed today science lesson.
